Pro-Crypto Super PAC Funded by MAGA Billionaire Becomes the Second Dark Money Group Propping Up McClain Delaney

Frederick, MD – A pro-crypto super PAC funded by a MAGA billionaire is pouring nearly half a million dollars into Maryland’s Sixth District race, launching a new ad backing April McClain Delaney after a controversial vote to make Trump richer and put our national security at risk.

The support comes after McClain Delaney broke with Democrats and voted for the GENIUS Act, which was opposed by nearly every other Maryland Democrat, a vote that allows Trump to personally pocket billions in payoffs from foreign governments and enable corruption in the highest levels of government, while weakening regulation of the crypto industry and allowing it to make billions in profits.

What’s most troubling is that McClain Delaney knew the dangers before casting her vote. McClain Delaney signed on to a letter warning of the bill’s dangerous loophole exempting Trump from basic conflict of interest protections and sacrificing our national security. She knew the danger the bill posed and voted yes anyways.

The new ad spending is sponsored by Protect Progress is principally funded by Andreessen Horowitz and MAGA billionaire Marc Andreessen. Nearly all the entity’s money has come from another crypto Super PAC, Fairshake, to which Andreessen has given nearly $12 million this cycle and his AH Capital Management has given another $24 million. Andreessen spent millions to elect Trump in 2024

“Calling the bat signal to special interest friends for help seems to be a song and dance April McClain Delaney is all too familiar with,” said Gaby Krevat, Communications Director. “Despite her claims of being progressive, McClain Delaney has a habit of voting with Republicans over Maryland voters and then having dark money bail her out when she is in a pinch. This is yet another example of April McClain Delaney selling out Maryland values to the highest bidder.”
