Frederick, MD – Today, Congressman David Trone’s reelection campaign released a new ad reminding voters that April McClain Delaney was the only Maryland Democrat to vote for the Laken Riley Act, expanding ICE’s ability to detain unlawful immigrants without conviction for crimes as minor as shoplifting.
The ad highlights how McClain Delaney’s vote contributed to more than 600,000 deportations, the murders of three U.S. citizens, and empowered masked federal ICE agents to snatch women and children off the streets.
“Here are the facts: April McClain Delaney has voted with Donald Trump and his MAGA enablers in Congress 22% of the time,” said Communications Director Gaby Krevat. “At a time when we need a fighter standing up against Trump, she has stood alongside him. It is a betrayal of our communities and of our core democratic values — and Marylanders deserve better.”
McClain Delaney’s record goes beyond a single vote. She voted to make domestic violence survivors vulnerable to deportation for reporting their abusers. She also supported a resolution thanking ICE for “protecting the homeland” while agents terrorized immigrant communities across the country.
“Our district needs a fighter who is willing to protect our families and protect democracy — every vote, every time,” Krevat added. “Congressman David Trone is taking the fight back to Washington.”
