McClain Delaney Says Her Donors Are Buying What She’s Selling, And That Seems to Mostly Include Special Interests

Frederick, MD – When asked about campaign funding by Bethesda Magazine, published yesterday, April McClain Delaney said, “I think that you actually should have to raise money. Because when people give you a dollar, they’re investing in you … if they give me $10, they’re saying, ‘I’m buying what she’s selling.’”

This certainly seems true given who is funding McClain Delaney’s campaign.

McClain Delaney has received fewer than $20,000 in itemized contributions from voters in the Sixth District she represents – which makes up 0.14% of her total fundraising.

Meanwhile, she’s received nearly six times that amount from corporate PACs, from drug companies AstraZeneca, Gilead, and Thermo Fisher, to ICE contractor Peraton, to utility monopolies Exelon and Constellation Energy, to Wall Street giants Goldman Sachs, Zurich, and UBS.

And on top of that, two corporate interest groups that have worked to elect MAGA Republicans are spending hundreds of thousands in dark money.

“According to McClain Delaney herself, voters should tie financial investment to a politician’s values. So why then are two MAGA Super PACs — Crypto and the Bankers’ Association — spending to help McClain Delaney? And why did Big Pharma and ICE Contractor lobbyists donate to her campaign?” said Communications Director Gaby Krevat. “Sounds like McClain Delaney is selling out Marylanders to be bought by special interests.”
